Considering the Acquisition of an Electronic
Voting System?
Many varied considerations can be taken into account when selecting an Electronic Voting System or EVS. These systems can also be called PRS (Personal Response Systems) or ARS (Audience Response Systems). We have identified the following overriding, key criteria:

1.Ease of use

How easy it is to set up the system and prepare a lesson?

Most users regard MS PowerPoint as their most convenient and familiar tool and they want a plug and play system.

Interactive Presenter™ provides a completely seamless operation with MS PowerPoint. The set up consists of plugging in the antenna into the computer’s USB port and opening the MS PowerPoint. Once the audience has their handsets, you are ready to run for upto 2000 people - one true USB antenna, not a simulated RS port. Antenna is powered from USB.

Add a question by just typing it as were it a completely normal slide. It looks, feels and behaves just like a PowerPoint slide. You can include it in any existing teaching set or lecture series.

A lecturer can also import series of question slides written with any word processor. They are simply created by importing the question texts and there is no limitation to the number of questions.

All voting results can be saved and go straight into Excel for further analysis.

2. Robustness of the System

Interactive Presenter™ handsets have a clear and simple to understand User Interface. There are three lights: Error – Send – Vote Received OK. These indicators do what they say.

One feature of Interactive Presenter™ handsets is their toughness and resistance to shock. The handsets will survive a 3 meter drop onto a concrete floor.

Battery life is essential when judging the robustness of an interactive system; Interactive Presenter™ batteries are standard 2x AAA 1,5 V. In heavy everyday use, they last well over a year and with more occasional use –say, twice a week – over 3 years.

The most important aspect of the Interactive Presenter’s robustness comes though the range of the radio frequency wave and its tolerance for interference and human bioimpedance attenuation. You always know the voting results you have are complete and accurate.

Consider the following...  There are 1500 people sitting in one large auditorium.
You want to collect their answers for an examination, shareholders meeting or international convention. You would not accept a drop out range of 30% or more, would you?

We sure don’t - thus we say: The Interactive Presenter™ system belongs to the very, very few systems globally to survive a 1500 people polling in less than 5 seconds with no drop outs (missing votes) at all. The carrying distance of the signal from the keypads is 120 meters in a room filled with 1500 people and only one receiver is required.

3. Fancy features

There are naturally people who want to be in the front line of technology and to be virtually first to run impressive, new features. For them, we can offer the most stunning 3 D graphics online during a poll and all the output digital production tools have to offer, since the new Interactive Presenter™ software accepts any form of digital presentation material on its playlist.
